Formek’s personnel are always ready to work also on-site at the customer’s premises. We carry out plant engineering projects both on an hourly basis and at a fixed price. In addition to more conventional projects, our personnel have experience in EPCM projects.
Our primary design tools for Formek Plants services include AutoCAD 2D, Vertex G4 Plant and SolidWorks 3D.

Basic engineering
In the basic engineering (pre-engineering) phase, technical specifications are defined for the investment before the project proceeds. The main objective is usually to define the investment budget. Basic engineering for plants covers all areas of plant design, from layout design to stress analysis and commissioning. With careful pre-engineering, investment cost estimates can reach an accuracy of up to 10%.
Process engineering
The most important goals of process engineering include creating P&I diagrams and flow dimensioning for piping. We also prepare functional descriptions for automation engineering. The success of every project is built on our extensive experience in process engineering for the chemical and energy industries.
Layout design
We use plant layouts to establish the most effective space utilization and usability for the process area. With high-quality layout design, we optimize space efficiency while guaranteeing an excellent working environment for the plant’s production personnel.
Vessel and tank design
General arrangement drawings of tanks show dimensions as well as the directions and sizes of nozzle connections. Process operating values are also considered in tank design. High-quality layout and tank design results in a functional whole in terms of both operation and costs.
Piping design
Formek Engineering Oy provides design services for all kinds of process industry piping. Our assignments cover everything from basic to detailed engineering, including stress calculations, where thermal stress is also taken into account. We provide 3D modeling of plants, piping layouts and piping isometrics.
Structural steel engineering
The primary focus of structural steel engineering is to ensure the stability, strength and rigidity of the structure. High-quality engineering and precise stress analysis ensure that the steel structure withstands its designed service life and operation. Access platforms are designed according to the SFS-EN ISO 1092 standard.
Stress analysis
The loads acting on structures and products are assessed through stress analysis. Stress calculations also help optimize the durability and manufacturability of the structure. Formek Engineering Oy offers stress analysis as a standalone service or as part of a comprehensive design package. We have experience in stress analysis for piping and steel structures, as well as reinforced plastic structures.
Installation supervision
Installation supervision ensures the quality, schedule, documentation and technical details of the installation. Well-managed and high-quality installation supervision has a significant impact on the success of the commissioning phase. Our experts ensure that commissioning proceeds smoothly.
Preventive maintenance and equipment documentation
Our experts have extensive experience in updating SAP maintenance systems. We update functional location and equipment hierarchies as well as preventive maintenance plans. We also manage ALMA system projects and document management.
